Who Is a Muslim?

3:102
“Oh you who believe! Fear Allah as He rightfully deserves to be feared. And beware! Do not die except as obedient servants (as Muslims)!”
12:101
“My Lord! You have awarded me kingdom and have taught me the meaning of (dreams and) events. Oh Maker of the heavens and the earth, You are our Patron in this world, as well as in the afterlife. Give me the death of a Muslim, and let me join the pious.”
28:053
When it (the Qur’an) is read to them, they say, “We believe it! It is the truth from our Lord! Indeed, even prior to this, we were the obedient ones (Muslim s)!”
3:032

Islamic Tips For Students

Learning is a continuous process it starts with birth and ends with the death. We spend all of our life in learning either we know it or not. With the passage of time, people grow in age as well as in experience. Sometimes they learn through the life itself and sometimes they learn from the learned i.e. teachers.
In this way we all are students of time and we have to learn, so it is better if we learn well. Learning is the process of extracting useful information from the things that we see daily. This useful information is called knowledge. There are two types of knowledge, the divine knowledge i.e. the knowledge given to us by ALLAH swt through HIS scriptures and the worldly knowledge that people have learned from their experiences in life. The later depends on the former.
In the very beginning of the world, there was no worldly knowledge. Prophet Adam a.s. did what He a.s was told by ALLAH swt. later on with the growing population and moving away from the divine message people lost themselves into the world and they found knowledge which they seldom used for good. But it does not mean the worldly knowledge is bad. It can also be used for good, for the goodness of humanity.
Today, the process of learning has grown to a level where education is a must in every society. So we see students around us who start their learning from young age and some continue to learn till their last breath. Students are often found tensed and troubled for their studies. Sometimes they say they cannot memorize, sometimes they find some subjects difficult to understand and there are so many other problems.
First and the most important thing is, we students need to pray for our knowledge and for that we could use it for only well. Secondly we should be very honest with our studies. Cheating and dishonest passing of exams will do well for a while but it will be proven destructive in the long run. There is no place for cheaters in islam. No matter what situation we are in, we should not tell lies keeping in view the situation and we cannot cheat and be dishonest with others.
The ultimate knowledge is wit ALLAH swt only. There is no other being that can claim to be of unlimited knowledge. this should be kept in mind and this wil ease the tension that why we are not good at some subjects.
ALLAH swt says in Quran: [011:047]
قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّىٓ أَعُوذُ بِكَ أَنۡ أَسۡـَٔلَكَ مَا لَيۡسَ لِى بِهِۦ عِلۡمٌ۬ۖ وَإِلَّا تَغۡفِرۡ لِى وَتَرۡحَمۡنِىٓ أَڪُن مِّنَ ٱلۡخَـٰسِرِينَ
Noah said: "O my Lord! I do seek refuge with Thee, lest I ask Thee for that of which I have no knowledge. And unless thou forgive me and have Mercy on me, I should indeed be lost!"
Students should recite the underline dua often.
[020:114]
فَتَعَـٰلَى ٱللَّهُ ٱلۡمَلِكُ ٱلۡحَقُّۗ وَلَا تَعۡجَلۡ بِٱلۡقُرۡءَانِ مِن قَبۡلِ أَن يُقۡضَىٰٓ إِلَيۡكَ وَحۡيُهُ ۥۖ وَقُل رَّبِّ زِدۡنِى عِلۡمً۬ا
High above all is God, the King, the Truth! Be not in haste with the Quran before its revelation to thee is completed, but say, "O my Lord! advance me in knowledge."
[020:025-28]
قَالَ رَبِّ ٱشۡرَحۡ لِى صَدۡرِى وَيَسِّرۡ لِىٓ أَمۡرِى وَٱحۡلُلۡ عُقۡدَةً۬ مِّن لِّسَانِى يَفۡقَهُواْ قَوۡلِى
(Moses) said: "O my Lord! expand me my breast; Ease my task for me; And remove the impediment from my speech, So they may understand what I say”.
Put all your trust in ALLAH and do not hesitate to admit that we cannot be perfect in everything.

Do Not Make Fun of Sunnah Followers

Allah SWT says in Holy Quran.
If you were to ask them, they would surely say, “We were just joking and having fun.” Say, “Are you having fun (and cutting jokes) about Allah, His verses and His messenger?” Make no excuses, now. You have denied the truth, after first having professed belief. We may pardon some of you, but We would certainly punish others amongst you because they are really.
The above verses of Quran are a warning to those who make fun of those who follow islam in its true spirit. Even if we follow one sunnah and listen to single order of ALLAH and do exactly what we are told to do, we will be rewarded. So, if you find someone who is doing an Islamic act you must encourage him not discourage him. By discouraging you will not only make a person leave the right track but also deprive the society of one good person. Such a person will earn triple sin, one for his making fun, one for his discouraging a muslim brother/sister and one for his not following a good even he/she saw it happening.
today those muslims are criticized the most who try to follow the orders of ALLAH and HIS Messenger s.a.w.w. men who keep beard are called Taliban or terrorists, women who wear hijab are called illiterate and backward. Those who like to keep simple are called fool or backward. Those who talk with manners are called proud and all. So those who follow good acts are named after the good acts they do, but in a way to make fun of them.
This is a sin, why to make fun of those who want to be good muslims. Why to discourage them. What is fashion? Does it have any basis in islam? Were we told to look vulgar in the name of fashion or talk rubbish to show style or attitude? Certainly not, we are told to be good and decent but unfortunately, not many are found good in muslim societies. These societies are in fact the most fashion struck because many of us want to look up to date instead of looking good Muslims.
We should take care of our attitude because it needs revision and renovation.

Terrorism Is Not the Monopoly of Islam

Terrorism is derived from the word “terror” which means fear or fright. The word terrorism became famous after 9/11 when world saw a plotted plan which turned the tables and the enemy revealed itself without any hesitation. After the incident or false drama of 9/11 the world turned against Muslims and terrorism became Islamic terrorism. Islamophobes tried their level best to make such a plan against muslims that their power could be crushed worldwide and it happened exactly the same.
Unfortunately we see some figures actually involved in the terror activities that have nothing to do with islam but they do all that in the name of islam. The biggest example in the TTP of Pakistan and the African islamist groups who unknowingly do what they are funded for. In this article Islamic stance on terrorism is going to be discussed in detail, inshallah.
ALLAH swt says in Quran 5:32
“For that reason, We decreed for the children of Israel, “If someone kills a human being _ unless as a penalty for murder, or unless it is to prevent the spread of corruption in the world _ it is as if he has killed the entire humanity. And if someone saves a life, it is as if he has saved the entire humanity. Certainly, (all) Our messengers had brought to them the clear (irrefutable) proofs. Despite that, most people in the world continue to commit (outrageous) excesses.”
The verse mentioned above is a clear cut stance of islam on the matter of terrorism. There is no way a muslim can kill anybody other than the death penalty, if he does he has made a grave mistake and has committed a big sin. If this is what islam says how can one justify the killing of anybody in the name of islam? Similarly, those who criticize islam day and night and find all those verse from Quran which they can quote out of context, why do not they see this verse of holy Quran and see what actually Quran says about unjustified murder?
In another place ALLAH swt talks about the incident of habil and qabil when the one killed the other for an unjustified reason and purely out of evil intentions.
Al-Quran 5:030
“His (evil) soul acceded to the murder of his brother. And he killed his brother and became one of those who incurred a real loss.”
Today we see muslims dying in muslim states by the hands of muslims for the reason unknown. Aren’t those incurring a real loss by killing innocent kids and people who have nothing to do with anything?
When islam does not promote anything which is associated with islam, why the non muslim world is so bent to prove that islam is religion of terrorists? It is only because those who are sitting in white house do not want islam to grow back to the position it was before. Because it is only the truth that can defeat the lies. If there will be no truth visible to the world there will be nothing to defeat the lies. This is the formula adopted by the west and all the other anti Islamic powers to suppress islam.
ALLAH swt says in another place in Quran 2:178
“O ye who believe! the law of equality is prescribed to you in cases of murder: the free for the free, the slave for the slave, the woman for the woman. But if any remission is made by the brother of the slain, then grant any reasonable demand, and compensate him with handsome gratitude, this is a concession and a Mercy from your Lord. After this whoever exceeds the limits shall be in grave penalty.”
This is the ruling of islam even on a justified murder. There are two ways for the murdered’s relatives either to demand the kill or to ask for a compensation, when islam promotes forgivness and life, islam cannot promote what the anti Islamic forces call “Islamic terrorism”. For those who still think islam is the religion for muslims only, they should learn islam themselves instead of falling for the lies of the islamophobes.
There ae various ahadith that deal with this matter.
Bukhari Volume 9, Book 83, Number 9:
Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'Amr:
The Prophet said, "Al-Kaba'ir (the biggest sins) are: To join others (as partners) in worship with Allah, to be undutiful to one's parents," or said, "to take a false oath." (The sub-narrator, Shu'ba is not sure) Mu'adh said: Shu'ba said, "Al-kaba'ir (the biggest sins) are: (1) Joining others as partners in worship with Allah, (2) to take a false oath (3) and to be undutiful to one's parents," or said, "to murder (someone unlawfully).
Those who talk about the “killing” of early muslims should also care to find the sources of knowledge of islam not the sources of evil of the devil worshipers.
The anti Islamic world is eager to present a false image about islam but they should also know that;
Al- Quran 3:054
“And (the unbelievers) plotted and plan, and God too planned, and the best of planners is God.”
Today, despite of all the hatred spread against islam, the number of followers of islam is increasing day by day because people when try to find terrorism from Quran and sunnah, they find nothing but peace and humanity.

Important Issues Related to Moon Sighting For Ramadan and Eid

There are some important issues related to moon sighting which need to be discussed when we are seeing moon of Ramadan.These issues are as follows:
1 Fasting is obligatory on every Muslim who finds Ramadan
2 Calenders should not be used to determine the dates
3 Naked Eye should be used for moon sighting
4 Moon sighting is a regional issue not a global issue
5 Only one witness is enough for moon sighting
Lets have a look on all these issues in depth in light of Quran and Sunnah
1 Fasting is obligatory on every Muslim who finds Ramadan:
Allah swt has made it clear in the Holy Quran that whosoever finds the month of Ramadan he/she has to fast in it.Allah swt says:
شَهْرُ رَمَضَانَ الَّذِي أُنْزِلَ فِيهِ الْقُرْآنُ هُدًى لِلنَّاسِ وَبَيِّنَاتٍ مِنَ الْهُدَىٰ وَالْفُرْقَانِ ۚ فَمَنْ شَهِدَ مِنْكُمُ الشَّهْرَ فَلْيَصُمْهُ ۖ وَمَنْ كَانَ مَرِيضًا أَوْ عَلَىٰ سَفَرٍ فَعِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَيَّامٍ أُخَرَ ۗ يُرِيدُ اللَّهُ بِكُمُ الْيُسْرَ وَلَا يُرِيدُ بِكُمُ الْعُسْرَ وَلِتُكْمِلُوا الْعِدَّةَ وَلِتُكَبِّرُوا اللَّهَ عَلَىٰ مَا هَدَاكُمْ وَلَعَلَّكُمْ تَشْكُرُونَ
The month of Ramadân in which was revealed the Qur'ân, a guidance for mankind and clear proofs for the guidance and the criterion (between right and wrong). So whoever of you sights (the crescent on the first night of) the month (of Ramadân i.e. is present at his home), he must observe Saum (fasts) that month, and whoever is ill or on a journey, the same number [of days which one did not observe Saum (fasts) must be made up] from other days. Allâh intends for you ease, and He does not want to make things difficult for you. (He wants that you) must complete the same number (of days), and that you must magnify Allâh [i.e. to say Takbîr (Allâhu-Akbar; Allâh is the Most Great) on seeing the crescent of the months of Ramadân and Shawwâl] for having guided you so that you may be grateful to Him. (Al-Baqarah 2:185)
2 Calenders should not be used to determine the dates:
Unlike Solar calendar Lunar calendar cannot be used to determine dates .The dates are determined after moon sighting.
Allah swt says:
They ask you (O Muhammad) about the new moons. Say: These are signs to mark fixed periods of time for mankind and for the pilgrimage. It is not Al-Birr (piety, righteousness, etc.) that you enter the houses from the back but Al-Birr (is the quality of the one) who fears Allâh. So enter houses through their proper doors, and fear Allâh that you may be successful. (Al-Baqarah 2:189)
This fact has also been mentioned in a hadith
Narrated Ibn Umar radi Allahu anhu:The Prophet salal laho aliehi wasalam said: "We are an illiterate nation; we neither write, nor know accounts. The month is like this and this, i.e. sometimes of 29 days and sometimes of thirty days."(Bukharee Volume 3, Book 31, Hadith 137)
3 Naked Eye should be used for moon sighting:
There are many hadiths which indicate that human eye should be used for moon sighting and in case there are clouds month of shabaan should be taken as a month of 30 days.
Narrated Abu Huraira radi Allahu anhu:The Prophet or Abu-l-Qasim salal laho aliehi wasalam said, "Start fasting on seeing the crescent (of Ramadan), and give up fasting on seeing the crescent (of Shawwal), and if the sky is overcast (and you cannot see it), complete thirty days of Sha'ban."(Bukharee,Volume 3, Book 31, Hadith 133)

4 Moon sighting is a regional issue not a global issue:
It is an absolute and undisputed reality that salahs are offered with the movement of sun and fasting and Hajj are offered with the lunar dates.No one in England,Pakistan ,America and other parts of the world will offer zuhar according to the sun of Makkah similarly moon of Saudia or any other country cannot be taken as a base for starting month of Ramadan.Every country has its own moon and this reality has been mentioned in the following hadith:
Kuraib narrated that Um Ul-Fadl has sent him to visit Muaa'wia in As-Shaam (Syria). He said: 'I went to As-Shaam and accomplished the purpose of my visit, and while I was there, Ramadaan started; I had seen the crescent moon on Thursday night, and then went back to Madinah at the end of the month. Ibn Abbaas mentioned the crescent moon asking, 'When did you see the crescent moon?' I replied: 'We saw it on Thursday night.' Ibn Abbaas radi Allahu anhu then asked: 'Kuraib, did you see it?' I answered: 'Yes! And the people had seen it, and they fasted, and so did Muaa'wia.' So Ibn Abbaas said radi Allahu anhu: 'But we had seen it Friday night, so we will fast until we complete thirty days or until we see the crescent moon. I then asked: 'Aren't you satisfied with Muaa'wia's sighting and his fasting?' Ibn Abbaas radi Allahu anhu answered: 'No, this is what the Messenger of Allaah salal laho aliehi wasalam had ordered us to do. (Muslim Hadith 1078)
5 Only one witness is enough for moon sighting:
Generally it is assumed that a large group should be witness of moon .This is not right only one witness is enough on issue related to moon sighting.This fact is clear from the following hadiths:
The son of Umar radi Allahu anhu said: "The people looked to see the crescent, so I told the Messenger of Allaah salal laho aliei wasalam that I have seen it, so the Prophet fasted and ordered the people to fast." (Imaams Abu Dawood and Ibn Habbaan corrected it; Al-Haakim said: it is an authentic hadeth according to Muslim's condition)
Ibn Abbaas radi Allahu anhu said: "A Bedouin came to the messenger of Allaah salal laho aliehi wasalam and said: 'I have seen the crescent of Ramadaan,' so the Prophet said: 'Do you witness that there is no God but Allaah?' The Bedouin said: 'Yes!' Prophet salal laho alieh wasalam said: 'Do you witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allaah?' The Bedouin said: 'Yes!' Then the Prophet asked Bilaal to inform the people to fast the next day." (Recorded by Imaams Abu Dawood, Tirmedhi, Ibn Habbaan and Al-Haakim corrected it)
May Allah give us toufeeq to follow Quran and Hadith in each and every aspect of life ameen.

Lets have a look on all these issues in depth in light of Quran and Sunnah
1 Fasting is obligatory on every Muslim who finds Ramadan:
Allah swt has made it clear in the Holy Quran that whosoever finds the month of Ramadan he/she has to fast in it.Allah swt says:
شَهْرُ رَمَضَانَ الَّذِي أُنْزِلَ فِيهِ الْقُرْآنُ هُدًى لِلنَّاسِ وَبَيِّنَاتٍ مِنَ الْهُدَىٰ وَالْفُرْقَانِ ۚ فَمَنْ شَهِدَ مِنْكُمُ الشَّهْرَ فَلْيَصُمْهُ ۖ وَمَنْ كَانَ مَرِيضًا أَوْ عَلَىٰ سَفَرٍ فَعِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَيَّامٍ أُخَرَ ۗ يُرِيدُ اللَّهُ بِكُمُ الْيُسْرَ وَلَا يُرِيدُ بِكُمُ الْعُسْرَ وَلِتُكْمِلُوا الْعِدَّةَ وَلِتُكَبِّرُوا اللَّهَ عَلَىٰ مَا هَدَاكُمْ وَلَعَلَّكُمْ تَشْكُرُونَ
The month of Ramadân in which was revealed the Qur'ân, a guidance for mankind and clear proofs for the guidance and the criterion (between right and wrong). So whoever of you sights (the crescent on the first night of) the month (of Ramadân i.e. is present at his home), he must observe Saum (fasts) that month, and whoever is ill or on a journey, the same number [of days which one did not observe Saum (fasts) must be made up] from other days. Allâh intends for you ease, and He does not want to make things difficult for you. (He wants that you) must complete the same number (of days), and that you must magnify Allâh [i.e. to say Takbîr (Allâhu-Akbar; Allâh is the Most Great) on seeing the crescent of the months of Ramadân and Shawwâl] for having guided you so that you may be grateful to Him. (Al-Baqarah 2:185)
2 Calenders should not be used to determine the dates:
Unlike Solar calendar Lunar calendar cannot be used to determine dates .The dates are determined after moon sighting.
Allah swt says:
They ask you (O Muhammad) about the new moons. Say: These are signs to mark fixed periods of time for mankind and for the pilgrimage. It is not Al-Birr (piety, righteousness, etc.) that you enter the houses from the back but Al-Birr (is the quality of the one) who fears Allâh. So enter houses through their proper doors, and fear Allâh that you may be successful. (Al-Baqarah 2:189)
This fact has also been mentioned in a hadith

3 Naked Eye should be used for moon sighting:
There are many hadiths which indicate that human eye should be used for moon sighting and in case there are clouds month of shabaan should be taken as a month of 30 days.

You Should Smell Good’ It’s Sunnah

What does it mean to smell good? It indicates towards two very important points;
1: to keep oneself clean
2: to wear fragrance
There has been placed much emphasis on keeping oneself clean in islam. Both, Quran and Sunnah recommend us to be clean and remain in the state of purity. It is a well known hadith “cleanliness is half faith”,
Muslim Book 002, Number 0432:
Abu Malik at-Ash'ari reported: The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said: Cleanliness is half of faith and al-Hamdu Liliah (Praise be to Allah) fills the scale, and Subhan Allah (Glory be to Allah) and al-Hamdu Liliah (Praise be to Allah) fill up what is between the heavens and the earth, and prayer is a light, and charity is proof (of one's faith) and endurance is a brightness and the Holy Qur'an is a proof on your behalf or against you. All men go out early in the morning and sell themselves, thereby setting themselves free or destroying themselves.
So, keeping in mind the hadith, we should make ourselves clean and tidy. Also a dirty look and untidiness does not leave good impression on others. To wear clean clothes and to remain clean does not mean that one has to be rich or have elegant cloths. It is not what islam has ever preached us.
We perform ablution five times a day this means we are ought to be clean and tidy to offer namaz because namaz cannot be offered in dirty clothes in fact namaz should be offered in clean and good clothes.
The second point talks about wearing fragrance. Today, we are available with many deodorants and perfumes to wear. But people hesitate to wear them by saying that these products contain alcohol. This is not that much serious as it has been made serious by few closed minds. There have been given many fatwas on wearing perfumes and they are absolutely permissible to wear. It is sunnah to smell good. There are various traditions that tell us about the way prophet Muhammad saww used to look and live. The companions r.a of Muhammad s.a.w.w said that He s.a.w.w used to smell extremely good and He s.a.w.w used to live very clean and tidy.
Muslim Book 030, Number 5759:
Anas reported: I never smelt ambergris or musk as fragrant as the fragrance of the body of Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) and I never touched brocade or silk and found it as soft as the body of Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him).
Muhammad s.a.w.w was Prophet of ALLAH swt, so it was His uniqueness that He s.a.w.w smelled good, but it also gives us a hint that since our beloved Prophet s.a.w.w smelled good, we all should smell good as following sunnah. There is no other religion on planet earth that emphasizes this much on cleanliness except islam.
Bukhari Book 030, Number 5759:
Anas reported: I never smelt ambergris or musk as fragrant as the fragrance of the body of Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) and I never touched brocade or silk and found it as soft as the body of Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him).

What to see when choosing a life Partner

Beauty or character, what should one look for while choosing a life partner? If we go by the today’s practices and trends, then it’s nothing but beauty which enhances with riches. If we go by Islamic point of view, it talks about uprightness in character and piousness.
To talk about mulims, a good muslim’s choice while looking for a life partner should be someone who is upright in character. One must expect any un-islamic attitude from his/her life partner. A man cannot live happy with a female who does not care about the na mahrams or gives extra and unwanted attention to the people her husband does not like. Similarly a wife cannot live with a person who is not of good character, who does not care about his wife, beats her and has illegal relations with other women. This mostly happens when marriages are arranged without looking for the character of the person but looks and riches are counted only.
There is a saying “beauty lies in the eyes of beholder”. This mean beauty is not on the face of the person but it is in the eyes of the person who looks. The one who looks for fair character will ultimately get a person with fair character. The problems of marriage in our society are growing just because we have abandoned the Islamic ways and have adopted the worldly pleasures. This is why we see so many girls un married.
While looking for a life partner, we must rely on ALLAH swt. We should trust Him because HIS decisions could never be wrong. Our beloved Prophet Muhammad s.a.w.w used to tell sahib r.a. to do istekhara overmatters that confused them.
It is related on the authority of Jabir ibn 'Abdullah that the Prophet (s.a.w) used to teach his companions to seek, through a special du'a (known as an istikharah), the guidance of Allah in all matters which affected them. Rasulallah (s.a.w) said: "When you are confused about what you should do in a certain situation, then pray two rak'at of nafl salaat and read the following du'a (du'a of istikharah)."
But, how many of us do that? Instead we rely on our intelligence and likeness which is of course limited in every aspect. But it does not mean that one cannot like any female or male. If one likes someone, the best thing for such people will be to get married, as indicated by a hadith of Muhammad s.a.ww.
While looking for a wife or husband, one must not think about any worldly pleasures associated with marriage like dowry and riches and all that. These things were never present in islam and they have no value. A wife/husband if is good looking along with good character, there is no harm in it. But just to reject someone because he/she is not good looking or rich, this is not good in fact this is sin to look down upon other in any way.

Narated By ‘Umar bin Al-Khattab : Allah’s Apostle said, “The reward of deeds depends upon the intention and every person will get the reward according to what he has intended. So whoever emigrated for Allah and His Apostle, then his emigration was for Allah and His Apostle. And whoever emigrated for worldly benefits or for a woman to marry, his emigration was for what he emigrated for. .
Hence, if oen looks for worldly gain, it will be left on this very world.
Allah Says in the Quran 3:14
Fair in the eyes of men is the love of things they covet: Women and sons; Heaped-up hoards of gold and silver; horses branded (for blood and excellence); and (wealth of) cattle and well-tilled land. Such are the possessions of this world’s life; but in nearness to Allah is the best of the goals (To return to).
Therefore, look for what will make your life good with respect to your hereafter because riches and beauty are time limited and they can be taken back any time.

What Is Bidah

Biddah is an act of innovation in deen. Bidah in literal sense means to innovate and what is innovated is always something new. In the matters of deen, there is no need and place for anything new in islam because the deen-e islam has been completed and there will be no divine order that will come to us in form of Quran or hadith now.
The practice of biddah is cursed. There are many traditions that clearly indicate about biddah and how they are treated by Muhammad s.a.w.w. few of them are given below.

Jabir b. Abdullah said: When Allah's Messenger (may peace he upon him) delivered the sermon, his eyes became red, his voice rose. and his anger increased so that he was like one giving a warning against the enemy and saying:

" The enemy has made a morning attack on you and in the evening too." And the most evil affairs are their(Bid'a) innovations; and every (Bid'a)innovation is error." He would further say:, I am more dear to a Muslim even than his self; and he who left behind property that is for his family. and he who dies under debt or leaves children (in helplessness). the responsibility (of paying his debt and bringing up his children) lies on me."

We greeted him and said: We have come to see you to give healing and obtain benefit from you. Al-Irbad said:

One day the Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) led us in prayer, then faced us and gave us a lengthy exhortation at which the eyes shed tears and the hearts were afraid.

A man said: Apostle of Allah! It seems as if it were a farewell exhortation, so what injunction do you give us? He then said: I enjoin you to fear Allah, and to hear and obey even if it be an Abyssinian slave, for those of you who live after me will see great disagreement. You must then follow my sunnah and that of the rightly-guided caliphs. Hold to it and stick fast to it. Avoid novelties, for every novelty is an innovation, and every innovation is an error.
On the authority of the Mother of the Faithful, Umm `Abdillaah `Aaishah (radi Allaahu 'anhaa) , who said: The Messenger of Allah (sallAllaau alayhi wa sallam) said:
“He who innovates something in this matter of ours [i.e. Islaam] that is not of it will have it rejected [by Allaah]”. [Related by al-Bukhaari and Muslim]
These traditions clearly prove that there is no place for biddah is islam. But unfortunately, today we see many practices that can never be proven on the grounds of Quran and sunnah yet people follow these wrong practices in the name of islam. They are not only wrong but also inviting sins for themselves. There are few name sake scholars who are selling islam for some money which will be a small worldly gain only.
The practice of biddah is cursed. There are many traditions that clearly indicate about biddah and how they are treated by Muhammad s.a.w.w. few of them are given below.

Tips For Answering The Allegations Of Non-Muslims About Islam

It is very natural these days to see a many discussions, queries, and objections to Islam as a religion. Sometimes these objections and questions come from non-Muslims who do not understand some parts of the Islamic religion, while at other times the Muslims themselves have a hard time understanding aspects of their own religion Islam.
It is also normal that the committed Muslims, whether they are knowledgeable or not, will look for ways to defend their Islamic religion, since it is their way of life and the center of all their efforts. Before we Muslims decide to discuss any given matter though, it is vital to note that the matters brought up by non-Muslims are divided into:
(a) the type of allegations that are directly connected with the truth of Islam and how truth is established in Islam.
And
(b) The allegations that are not connected to the means in which the truth of Islam is established, but rather are objections to the practices and rules if Islam.
The types of objections then are either those that are essential for the truth of Islam to be known without a doubt, and those things which are merely possible for Allah to have legislated for humanity. So our aim should be to answer the first type of allegations and involve ourselves in learning as much as we can about these topics and how to refute any issues that may be brought up, while explaining that the second type of situations are a product of accepting the truth of Islam and without accepting the truth of Islam all explanations and elaborations from our side will not amount to much at all, since the basis of the laws, and the origin of these laws is being contested.
We do acknowledge that for the allegations brought up with respect to the laws and regulations of Islam, there are a good number of responses from different Muslims, both from among the scholars and the laymen, which do explain the rules of Islam in the best way possible. Indeed, this site itself has a collection of such writings, and they will, Insha Allah, help a lot of people to discover the truth of Islam.
Nevertheless, the Muslims and non-Muslims should always remember that the reasons provided in the various articles dealing with “difficult” subjects are tentative and speculative at best, in that they appeal to science, customs, history, culture, personal experiences, etc. to show that there is sense in the laws legislated in Islam. For example, we may read in some works that the reason why homosexuality is strictly prohibited in Islam is because “it leads to a non-reproductive union between two persons thereby removing the most procreating element in marriage”, or because “the incidence of possible diseases increases in such relationships”, and other similar reasons. However, the non-Muslim (and even some Muslim) readers may come away with the impression that the main reason why Islam prohibits such unions is due to such tentative reasons, especially since such articles and works try to avoid injecting the divine nature of the Islamic rules when presenting such arguments.
However, such probabilistic reasons do not deal with the crux of the issue, which is that the non-Muslim has a standard for looking at things as true and false which is different than the Muslim standard. Since this guideline is different to begin with, any given non-Muslim person will always have some or the other problem with the laws of Islam, because Islam is by default different from the non-Muslim ways of life, and the non-Muslim cannot be fully convinced about the correctness of the Islamic guidelines unless he comes into the fold of Islam.
A “Universal inner morality” does not exist as such
There are among the people those who insist that it is impossible for them to agree to certain aspects of Islam, since according to them it is universally agreed upon that some of the laws legislated by Islam are abhorrent and evil. They say that the “universal inner morality” as to what constitutes right and wrong has to be the yardstick against which to measure any given religion, and that Islam fails this test. There are those who are not satisfied with only this, but claim that animals also have “natural and universal rights” which Islam is violating according to their view.
To this we say that a “universal morality” is only partially true, in that only some very vague principles are agreed upon by human beings in a truly universal manner, while almost all the details are subject to some or the other disagreement among humanity. So it is no surprise when we receive complaints about certain aspects of Islamic law from the non-Muslims. The Muslims who seek to support and defend the Islamic religion through their discussions should not lose heart when the non-Muslims seek to undermine aspects of Islamic Shariah Law through their objections, since such protestations are ultimately the product of a worldview and a belief system very different from the Islamic one.
In fact, there are thousands of ways in which any given Islamic law may be different from what the non-Muslim thinks as normal, and in many cases two non-Muslims may dislike the same Islamic law based on totally opposite considerations. When we consider that the potential viewpoints of various non-Muslims in the past or the future were and will be different from what they currently are, then the scope for divergence increases manifold.
For example, let us take whom Islam allows for marriage and for legal sexual intercourse: Islam allows marriage (and intercourse within marriage) between cousins but disallows marriage (and intercourse) between siblings. Some non-Muslims may see cousin marriage as incest and conclude that Islam is a wicked religion which allows very close relatives to live together intimately, while others may see it as normal. Another person from some other part of the world may be fine with sexual interaction between brother and sister on the grounds that in their view, consenting adults should be allowed to be with each other as they deem fit.
Thus, if we analyze the views of marriage and sexual intimacy for only the two groups mentioned above (cousins and siblings), we see then that there are different possible outlooks in this respect:
1. Those who disagree with marriage or sexual intercourse between cousins, as well as to marriage or intercourse between brothers and sisters.
2. Those who disagree with marriage between cousins but see nothing wrong with sexual intimacy between them, but see it wrong for there to exist any sort of sexual relationship (or legal marriage) between brothers and sisters.
3. Those who agree that marriage between cousins is allowed and intercourse should only be done in the context of marriage between them, but who disapprove of any relationship (marriage or sexual intimacy) between brothers and sisters.
4. Those who are largely apathetic to whether cousins or siblings should be allowed to marry and show no visible preference either way, but who strongly believe that any two consenting and able-bodied adults should be allowed to make decisions about their sexual lives without any outside interference. The question of intercourse is not related to marriage for such individuals.
5. We can also imagine a situation where both cousin and sibling marriages are allowed and intercourse is kept within the confines of such “marriages”. The fact that almost no one exists who approves of this nowadays is no barrier to us imagining that perceptions may change in the future in some part of the world allowing such a view to take root. Indeed, the example presented earlier from South Indian society is somewhat similar to this, in that sexual intimacy is restricted to marriage only, but a type of marriage that is seen as unacceptable to many people outside of that region (between an uncle and his niece) is practiced in such a society.
From these five groups mentioned, only the third one corresponds to the Islamic viewpoint. Yet there exist hundreds of millions of people all over the world having the other four views mentioned above. We should remember that this is only in the context of the two groups brought up by us as an example. If we include other examples such as relationships between people of the same gender, etc., we would end up with dozens of different opinions, with most of the world probably falling outside of what Islam deems as acceptable marital and sexual conduct.
So in all these cases, trying to explain why one form of marriage and sexual intimacy is prohibited (not only disliked but prohibited) while another one is allowed will be difficult if our opponent does not accept the divine nature of Islamic laws, since at the most we may partially convince him of the rationality behind our position, as the “rational” reasons for laws in Islam are speculative in nature, and the decisive reason for their prohibition or allowance is that such a law has been decreed by Allah.
The same issue can be brought up with respect to what the Muslims are allowed to eat, and shows that a common approach cannot even be reached with respect to how human-animal interactions should take place:
Some people will argue vociferously that killing any animal for food is ethically wrong and disallowed according to them, while others will clamor as to why they are not allowed to eat pork, or dog meat (if it is popular in their culture), etc., since this is part and parcel of their culture.
Thus, among Hindus the cow is seen as sacred, a symbol of selfless giving, wealth and prosperity, which has translated to the banning of cow slaughter in most of the Indian states. This can be contrasted with the attitude of several far Eastern people (let us take the example of China), for whom pork, dog meat, rats, snakes, and other animals are simply part of their cuisine.
In the first case then, something which is allowed and permissible in Islam (slaughter and consumption of cows) is considered as prohibited and is forbidden by law in many areas. In the other case though, something which is forbidden in Islam (eating of pork, dog meat, rat meat, etc.) is seen as normal dietary custom for people, hence their slogan: "If it flies in the air or walks on the land then it must be good to eat.”
So we see that the objections to the Islamic dietary laws come from totally opposite points of view and outlooks of life, and it is truly impossible to satisfy both sides through the exclusive use of rational evidences to support our views, without their first accepting that Islam is the correct religion.
We could go on showing many more examples of how different nations and cultures, both past and present, have radically different ideas on a plethora of issues related to every conceivable matter that may come up in man’s relationships to each other, and to non-human creatures, and to his individual self.
All of this shows that talk of a “universal moral code” existing within ourselves is incorrect, and that we the Muslims should never accept such logic against our pristine religion. If such “codes” were truly existent, everyone would immediately know what types of marriages should be allowed and which ones should be disallowed, what types of sexual intimacy should be permitted and which ones should be curtailed, and on and on for the thousands of issues confronting mankind and his relationship to the world at large. Such at-large consensus would be visible not only for our present point in time, but it would have also extended to the beginning of mankind and continued until the end of the human race on Earth.
Thus the need for finding out the theological proofs for the correctness of Islam
So by now, the Muslim should know and realize that there is no way of speaking about the parts of Islamic Law deemed objectionable by any given non-Muslim without steering the conversation towards the absolute truth of the Islamic religion. After all, our aim as Muslims should not be for mere outward tolerance to be shown by the non-Muslims towards our way of life.
Such “outward tolerance” is probably already being shown by the non-Muslims towards us in many parts of the world, but such non-Muslims are not bringing up that which they consider disagreeable with a “live and let live” mindset, but rather with a mindset that deep inside they believe this Islamic Law to be wrong even if they can show tolerance towards it. So our responses should be geared towards examining the basis of “right” and “wrong” and how such matters should be determined universally as we know that Islam is a universal religion intended for all of mankind. This examination can be done only by us encouraging the non-Muslim to set aside his objection to the law itself, and telling him to study the Divine Basis upon which the law has been decreed, since this is the only decisive factor behind all the laws of Islam.
This is not to say that such a realization will come easily to the non-Muslims. Some of the people, when faced with some of the realities of Islamic Law, talk about it being impossible to "believe in a God who would allow such a thing" or to “believe in a God who would disallow such a thing and allow suffering due to it” . In this case, the objector has imagined that (for example) “allowing a man to have multiple wives” is one of the "absolutely impossible" matters to attribute to God, and that a Deity with such characteristics (that is, the ability to legislate that a man can have multiple wives) cannot possibly exist.
In this case, the objector has muddled up in his/her mind the “absolutely impossible” characteristics that can never be attributed to Allah with those qualities that are “merely possible” to attribute to Allah, such as “legislating that a man may marry multiple wives”.
Whenever discussing with anyone then, the Muslims must know that when talking about the attributes and characteristics of Allah one has to have a clear idea of (a) what is absolutely necessary to attribute to God, (b) what is absolutely impossible to attribute to God, and (c) what is merely possible to attribute to God. For this article, it will be sufficient to say that Islam is unlike other religions, where logical contradictions and the explicit muddying between truth and falsehood are accepted as normative parts of such religions.
This is one of the parts of the Islamic religion which have to be presented to the non-Muslim as much as possible. Thus, the scholars of Islam will encourage those who are discussing with non-Muslims to first learn the proper Islamic beliefs to a high level of proficiency, along with the proofs that decisively show the correctness of the core Islamic beliefs, before moving on to present the correct Islamic belief, how it differentiates itself from the belief systems of other religions, along with the proofs for the correctness of the Islamic belief system when compared to other religious systems we see in the world. Only then can the Muslim move forward with discussing matters related to the contents of Islamic laws and regulations, since he knows that any rational answer he can think of and present is not the real and decisive reason why the Islamic injunction is to be followed, but is rather a tentative and approximate reason that could conceivably have certain weaknesses. Such a Muslim will also be prepared to take every discussion he has beyond a mere list of reasons as to why such a law could make sense to the non-Muslim, and will rather steer the non-Muslim towards examining the analytical proofs for the truth of the Islamic religion at large.
By means of this article we hope to have shown many of the Muslims currently discussing with non-Muslims the more correct way to take when trying to present the truth of Islam to such non-Muslims, which topics to address first and which ones to leave for a later time, as well as what our approach should be when presenting evidences from various fields of experience to substantiate any given Islamic law and opinion. Lastly, we pray that Allah will embolden the Muslims towards working ever more to establish Islam on the Earth, and open the hearts of many towards the truth of Islam, so that they attain salvation in this world and in the Hereafter. Amin. So Keep These points in mind while talking with Non-Muslim when taking on Religion of Islam.
It is also normal that the committed Muslims, whether they are knowledgeable or not, will look for ways to defend their Islamic religion, since it is their way of life and the center of all their efforts. Before we Muslims decide to discuss any given matter though, it is vital to note that the matters brought up by non-Muslims are divided into:
(a) the type of allegations that are directly connected with the truth of Islam and how truth is established in Islam.
And
(b) The allegations that are not connected to the means in which the truth of Islam is established, but rather are objections to the practices and rules if Islam.
The types of objections then are either those that are essential for the truth of Islam to be known without a doubt, and those things which are merely possible for Allah to have legislated for humanity. So our aim should be to answer the first type of allegations and involve ourselves in learning as much as we can about these topics and how to refute any issues that may be brought up, while explaining that the second type of situations are a product of accepting the truth of Islam and without accepting the truth of Islam all explanations and elaborations from our side will not amount to much at all, since the basis of the laws, and the origin of these laws is being contested.
We do acknowledge that for the allegations brought up with respect to the laws and regulations of Islam, there are a good number of responses from different Muslims, both from among the scholars and the laymen, which do explain the rules of Islam in the best way possible. Indeed, this site itself has a collection of such writings, and they will, Insha Allah, help a lot of people to discover the truth of Islam.
Nevertheless, the Muslims and non-Muslims should always remember that the reasons provided in the various articles dealing with “difficult” subjects are tentative and speculative at best, in that they appeal to science, customs, history, culture, personal experiences, etc. to show that there is sense in the laws legislated in Islam. For example, we may read in some works that the reason why homosexuality is strictly prohibited in Islam is because “it leads to a non-reproductive union between two persons thereby removing the most procreating element in marriage”, or because “the incidence of possible diseases increases in such relationships”, and other similar reasons. However, the non-Muslim (and even some Muslim) readers may come away with the impression that the main reason why Islam prohibits such unions is due to such tentative reasons, especially since such articles and works try to avoid injecting the divine nature of the Islamic rules when presenting such arguments.
However, such probabilistic reasons do not deal with the crux of the issue, which is that the non-Muslim has a standard for looking at things as true and false which is different than the Muslim standard. Since this guideline is different to begin with, any given non-Muslim person will always have some or the other problem with the laws of Islam, because Islam is by default different from the non-Muslim ways of life, and the non-Muslim cannot be fully convinced about the correctness of the Islamic guidelines unless he comes into the fold of Islam.
A “Universal inner morality” does not exist as such
There are among the people those who insist that it is impossible for them to agree to certain aspects of Islam, since according to them it is universally agreed upon that some of the laws legislated by Islam are abhorrent and evil. They say that the “universal inner morality” as to what constitutes right and wrong has to be the yardstick against which to measure any given religion, and that Islam fails this test. There are those who are not satisfied with only this, but claim that animals also have “natural and universal rights” which Islam is violating according to their view.
To this we say that a “universal morality” is only partially true, in that only some very vague principles are agreed upon by human beings in a truly universal manner, while almost all the details are subject to some or the other disagreement among humanity. So it is no surprise when we receive complaints about certain aspects of Islamic law from the non-Muslims. The Muslims who seek to support and defend the Islamic religion through their discussions should not lose heart when the non-Muslims seek to undermine aspects of Islamic Shariah Law through their objections, since such protestations are ultimately the product of a worldview and a belief system very different from the Islamic one.
In fact, there are thousands of ways in which any given Islamic law may be different from what the non-Muslim thinks as normal, and in many cases two non-Muslims may dislike the same Islamic law based on totally opposite considerations. When we consider that the potential viewpoints of various non-Muslims in the past or the future were and will be different from what they currently are, then the scope for divergence increases manifold.
For example, let us take whom Islam allows for marriage and for legal sexual intercourse: Islam allows marriage (and intercourse within marriage) between cousins but disallows marriage (and intercourse) between siblings. Some non-Muslims may see cousin marriage as incest and conclude that Islam is a wicked religion which allows very close relatives to live together intimately, while others may see it as normal. Another person from some other part of the world may be fine with sexual interaction between brother and sister on the grounds that in their view, consenting adults should be allowed to be with each other as they deem fit.
Thus, if we analyze the views of marriage and sexual intimacy for only the two groups mentioned above (cousins and siblings), we see then that there are different possible outlooks in this respect:
1. Those who disagree with marriage or sexual intercourse between cousins, as well as to marriage or intercourse between brothers and sisters.
2. Those who disagree with marriage between cousins but see nothing wrong with sexual intimacy between them, but see it wrong for there to exist any sort of sexual relationship (or legal marriage) between brothers and sisters.
3. Those who agree that marriage between cousins is allowed and intercourse should only be done in the context of marriage between them, but who disapprove of any relationship (marriage or sexual intimacy) between brothers and sisters.
4. Those who are largely apathetic to whether cousins or siblings should be allowed to marry and show no visible preference either way, but who strongly believe that any two consenting and able-bodied adults should be allowed to make decisions about their sexual lives without any outside interference. The question of intercourse is not related to marriage for such individuals.
5. We can also imagine a situation where both cousin and sibling marriages are allowed and intercourse is kept within the confines of such “marriages”. The fact that almost no one exists who approves of this nowadays is no barrier to us imagining that perceptions may change in the future in some part of the world allowing such a view to take root. Indeed, the example presented earlier from South Indian society is somewhat similar to this, in that sexual intimacy is restricted to marriage only, but a type of marriage that is seen as unacceptable to many people outside of that region (between an uncle and his niece) is practiced in such a society.
From these five groups mentioned, only the third one corresponds to the Islamic viewpoint. Yet there exist hundreds of millions of people all over the world having the other four views mentioned above. We should remember that this is only in the context of the two groups brought up by us as an example. If we include other examples such as relationships between people of the same gender, etc., we would end up with dozens of different opinions, with most of the world probably falling outside of what Islam deems as acceptable marital and sexual conduct.
So in all these cases, trying to explain why one form of marriage and sexual intimacy is prohibited (not only disliked but prohibited) while another one is allowed will be difficult if our opponent does not accept the divine nature of Islamic laws, since at the most we may partially convince him of the rationality behind our position, as the “rational” reasons for laws in Islam are speculative in nature, and the decisive reason for their prohibition or allowance is that such a law has been decreed by Allah.
The same issue can be brought up with respect to what the Muslims are allowed to eat, and shows that a common approach cannot even be reached with respect to how human-animal interactions should take place:
Some people will argue vociferously that killing any animal for food is ethically wrong and disallowed according to them, while others will clamor as to why they are not allowed to eat pork, or dog meat (if it is popular in their culture), etc., since this is part and parcel of their culture.
Thus, among Hindus the cow is seen as sacred, a symbol of selfless giving, wealth and prosperity, which has translated to the banning of cow slaughter in most of the Indian states. This can be contrasted with the attitude of several far Eastern people (let us take the example of China), for whom pork, dog meat, rats, snakes, and other animals are simply part of their cuisine.
In the first case then, something which is allowed and permissible in Islam (slaughter and consumption of cows) is considered as prohibited and is forbidden by law in many areas. In the other case though, something which is forbidden in Islam (eating of pork, dog meat, rat meat, etc.) is seen as normal dietary custom for people, hence their slogan: "If it flies in the air or walks on the land then it must be good to eat.”
So we see that the objections to the Islamic dietary laws come from totally opposite points of view and outlooks of life, and it is truly impossible to satisfy both sides through the exclusive use of rational evidences to support our views, without their first accepting that Islam is the correct religion.
We could go on showing many more examples of how different nations and cultures, both past and present, have radically different ideas on a plethora of issues related to every conceivable matter that may come up in man’s relationships to each other, and to non-human creatures, and to his individual self.
All of this shows that talk of a “universal moral code” existing within ourselves is incorrect, and that we the Muslims should never accept such logic against our pristine religion. If such “codes” were truly existent, everyone would immediately know what types of marriages should be allowed and which ones should be disallowed, what types of sexual intimacy should be permitted and which ones should be curtailed, and on and on for the thousands of issues confronting mankind and his relationship to the world at large. Such at-large consensus would be visible not only for our present point in time, but it would have also extended to the beginning of mankind and continued until the end of the human race on Earth.
Thus the need for finding out the theological proofs for the correctness of Islam
So by now, the Muslim should know and realize that there is no way of speaking about the parts of Islamic Law deemed objectionable by any given non-Muslim without steering the conversation towards the absolute truth of the Islamic religion. After all, our aim as Muslims should not be for mere outward tolerance to be shown by the non-Muslims towards our way of life.
Such “outward tolerance” is probably already being shown by the non-Muslims towards us in many parts of the world, but such non-Muslims are not bringing up that which they consider disagreeable with a “live and let live” mindset, but rather with a mindset that deep inside they believe this Islamic Law to be wrong even if they can show tolerance towards it. So our responses should be geared towards examining the basis of “right” and “wrong” and how such matters should be determined universally as we know that Islam is a universal religion intended for all of mankind. This examination can be done only by us encouraging the non-Muslim to set aside his objection to the law itself, and telling him to study the Divine Basis upon which the law has been decreed, since this is the only decisive factor behind all the laws of Islam.
This is not to say that such a realization will come easily to the non-Muslims. Some of the people, when faced with some of the realities of Islamic Law, talk about it being impossible to "believe in a God who would allow such a thing" or to “believe in a God who would disallow such a thing and allow suffering due to it” . In this case, the objector has imagined that (for example) “allowing a man to have multiple wives” is one of the "absolutely impossible" matters to attribute to God, and that a Deity with such characteristics (that is, the ability to legislate that a man can have multiple wives) cannot possibly exist.
In this case, the objector has muddled up in his/her mind the “absolutely impossible” characteristics that can never be attributed to Allah with those qualities that are “merely possible” to attribute to Allah, such as “legislating that a man may marry multiple wives”.
