How To Solve The Disputes?

Difference of opinion occurs over many issues. But most of the time the great issues and disputes are based on very small things that are negligible. To avoid disputes is the better thing. If one does not like something from his brother in Islam, he should simply ignore it by staying quiet. In this way, the person who spoke ill or treated bad will realize his mistake sooner this needs a lot of patience. But mostly issues are not avoided and they end up in small or big disputes. To resolve the issues between brothers and sisters is a good and liked deed.

    3:103

“And hold fast, all of you together, to the Rope of Allaah (i.e. this Qur’aan), and be not divided among yourselves”

The best choice is to avoid arguments and to avoid the disputes by keeping in mind the message of Quran. But when an issue occur, this is what a true muslim should do,

    8:46

“And obey Allaah and His Messenger, and do not dispute (with one another) lest you lose courage and your strength departs, and be patient. Surely, Allaah is with those who are AsSaabiroon (the patient)”

There are several ahadith that specially discuss this issue. Below are given few of them,

It was narrated that Abu Ayyoob al-Ansaari (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “It is not permissible for a Muslim to forsake his brother for more than three days, each of them turning away when they meet. The better of them is the one who gives the greeting of salaam first.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 2757; Muslim, 2560.

It was narrated that Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “The gates of Paradise are opened on Monday and Thursday, and everyone who does not associate anything with Allaah is forgiven, except a man who has had an argument with his brother. It is said: ‘Wait for these two until they reconcile, wait for these two until they reconcile, wait for these two until they reconcile.” Narrated by Muslim, 2565.

It was narrated from Abu Kharaash al-Sulami that he heard the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) say: “Whoever forsakes his brother for a year, it is as if he has shed his blood.” Narrated by Abu Dawood, 4915. Classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Targheeb, 2762.

From the above ahadith it is concluded that, even though the disputes occur and arguments are fired, the thing which no muslim should forget is that it will be act of taqwa If we forget the disputes and resolve the issues being the first. To sum up the article, below is given a beautiful verse of Quran that encloses this vast issue in few words.

And not alike are the good and the evil. Repel (evil) with what is best, when lo! he between whom and you was enmity would be as if he were a warm friend. (Ha-Mim: 34)
