Just watched a YouTube video in one of the threads here.. where Dr. Zakir Naik mentions that sins like raping, dacoit, killing are lesser as compared to someone worshiping God using idol or lets say someone who is a peaceful polytheist. Height of some logical crap here!!

Imagine, If a person deny or reject someone who help him in his whole life and give all the things which he need or require in life and even given him more than what he want and yet will you consider such rejecter as a peaceful person?

If this happens where the shariah is being practised then as per my knowledge the rapist has to be put to death whether he rapes a Hindu or a christian or a Muslim.
However the same cannot be done to the guy worshiping idols. His account is with his Lord.
Now till here both are sinners.
If the person who raped asks Allah for forgiveness, it between him and his Lord. But the punishment has to be given.

Having a muslim name is not the criteria to become a muslim in the eyes of Allah... A rapist cannot be a muslim...

Brother if he has raped and not repented and is following his whims and fancies and does not follow Allah's commands then Allah will judge his punishment. How can I say that?
Perhaps he is a hypocrite for all we know and the punishment for hypocrites is even worse than the punishment for denying Allah.
However if he repents or if even a person who worships idols repents truly then Allah forgives
However, Allah has said that there is ONE SIN he will NOT forgive which is SHIRK.
Now brother if someone has committed a rape --- Allah may or may not forgive.
But rape is definitely a horrible crime. That does not make it less. The point is that ultimately Allah is the judge but we know for sure that shirk is unforgiven.
This does not mean that some xyz says I'm a muslim and blows up people. If he truly was a Muslim then the question is would he have done such a thing? So then the question that follows is "is he a hypocrite".

Simplest answer to your question can be this:
there is a Guru, who knows 1001 ways to live best life. and if anyone does not learns them, then that person would hurt other human beings UN-intentionally by many ways.
so when a person rejects guru, he also rejects anything related to that guru (1001 way to live ideal life)

when a person rapes, he is only harming one human being.
when a person Rejects Allah, that means he is rejecting whatever is associated with Allah or, anything Said by Allah.
and the Best guidance in this world, is by Allah(islam). no other guidance (religion) is comparable to islam.
So by rejecting One-ness of Allah, or associating partners with him, you are actually considering someone EQUAL to God (which , according to common sense is an Insult of the Allah Almighty)

how can anyone insult Allah almighty? who is Lord of the worlds?

and also, you are rejecting Quran/hadith (Every single teachings of Islam), which is the only way to bring peace in world.
